Clear the print queue on a Mac

How to cancel stuck jobs and reset a printer on macOS.

Cancel stuck jobs

  1. Open System Settings › Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Printer Queue…
  3. Delete every job in the list. If the queue says Paused, click Resume.
  4. Restart the printer, then try a one-page test document.

Remove and add the printer again

  1. In Printers & Scanners, select the printer and click the minus (–) button to remove it.
  2. Click Add Printer, Scanner or Fax…, choose your printer and add it again.

Removing a printer only removes the entry on your Mac — it doesn't change anything on the printer.
